A LITTLE HELP. ANOTHER CHANCE.

From “won’t open”
to one more try.

Local repair needs no uploads or account. Just your recording, a working reference, and a place to save.

01 /

Choose your recording.

Start with the damaged MP4, MOV, or M4V. Your original stays exactly where it is, untouched.

02 /

Give it a reference.

Add a playable clip from the same camera, recorded with matching settings. A short clip can be enough.

03 /

Save. Review. Replay.

Create a separate repaired copy, then check its playback and audio sync. Find it instantly with Open file location.

WHEN RECORDING DOESN’T GO TO PLAN

Why do video files
get corrupted?

A video can contain recorded footage and still refuse to play. If recording or copying stops unexpectedly, the file may be incomplete or missing the index a player needs to find its frames.

Battery dies while recording

A drained battery, disconnected power cable, or sudden shutdown can interrupt saving. An MP4 or MOV may be left without its final index, sometimes reported as a missing “moov atom.”

Camera crashes or freezes

A camera or recording app crash can stop a clip from closing correctly. A forced restart while the device is still writing may leave an unfinished video file.

Faulty or failing SD card

An unreliable SD card, damaged storage, or write errors can leave gaps or unreadable data in a recording. Repairing a video’s index cannot replace footage that was never saved or is no longer readable.

Memory card removed too early

Removing a memory card or disconnecting an external drive before writing finishes can interrupt the recording or its final metadata update—even after you press stop.

Interrupted copy or download

A disconnected cable, interrupted download, or failed transfer can produce a truncated video. If the original still plays, copying it again is the best first step.

Storage fills up or the device overheats

Full storage or overheating can stop recording. Many devices close the clip safely, but an interruption before the file is finalized can leave it incomplete.

Keep the original. Work on a copy.

If you suspect a failing card, stop recording to it. Preserve any readable files before attempting repair. Aladdin Video Rescue can rebuild missing or damaged indexes in compatible recordings using a matching reference; it cannot restore overwritten footage or repair a physically damaged card.

Repair happens on your computer. You can leave the internet behind and get on with bringing your recordings back.

A note on privacy

BEFORE YOU PRESS PLAY

Good to know.

Video recovery isn’t a promise.
Here’s what to expect.

Is there a subscription or any hidden fee?+

No. Pay US$4.99 once and use local video repair forever. There is no subscription, recurring charge, or additional fee per local repair. Optional manual expert recovery is a separate paid service, charged only if recovery succeeds.

Can every damaged video be repaired?+

No. Recovery depends on the damage and the recording format. Missing or overwritten footage cannot be recreated. Always review the saved copy for playback and audio sync.

Which recordings are supported?+

Aladdin Video Rescue supports MP4, MOV, and M4V containers with missing or damaged indexes or interrupted media writes. Recovery requires a matching reference with constant-frame-rate, single-slice H.264 video, optionally with fixed-size Opus audio in regular chunks. AAC, HEVC, B-frames, fragmented video, AVI, and MKV are not supported by this method. The file extension alone does not establish compatibility.

Why do I need a working reference?+

A healthy recording from the same camera and settings provides the format information needed to rebuild the damaged recording’s structure.

Does my video leave my Mac?+

Local repair processes your videos on your Mac. If you choose manual expert recovery, your selected video and contact email are uploaded to Firebase for a human operator to review. Optional Firebase analytics report repair starts and outcomes, not video contents, filenames, paths, or raw error messages. Analytics are off by default; Google may receive device and network information if you enable them. Website analytics are optional and load only after you accept them. You can change your choice using Cookie preferences.
